Is the 2022 Audi R8 V10 the end of an era?

The Audi R8 has been updated for the 2022 model year, and the car is now only available as a V10, in either Coupe or Convertible body style, and you can opt for rear-wheel-drive or Audi’s famous Quattro drive, the base model coupe with RWD starts at about $150,000, which is somewhat of a deal when you compare it to the Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD, also with a V10 … and just like her counterpart from Sant’Agata, the Audi R8 V10 could be the end of an era, as the future is all about electrification.

The 2022 Audi R8 V10 comes with 560 hp, but we all know the replacement will go electric, something like a low-slung sports car version of the Audi e-tron GT for instance, or will it? We all know that the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Huracan are close nephews of one another, and with the V12 flagship from Italy going hybrid initially, chances are that the upcoming Huracán replacement will also be a hybrid upon launch, Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini SpA has already confirmed they will be using ICE engines coupled to electric motors for as long as legally possible, and we recently saw an article where they also confirmed the Huracán successor will come with more than six cylinders, and less than twelve … so either an 8-cylinder hybrid, or perhaps a 10-cylinder hybrid, and then it would make sense for the Audi R8 successor to use the same engine.

For now, let’s take a look at what YouTube reviewer Doug DeMuro thinks about the 2022 Audi R8 V10 model in his latest video:
