Jaguar’s New Vision Gran Turismo Coupé Is Just for Video Games
A New Jaguar Hypercar, Kind of
Jaguar has made a new hypercar, but unfortunately, the car is only a virtual hypercar made for the video game Gran Turismo Sport. The car is called the Gran Turismo Coupe. It’s a futuristic EV hypercar that takes styling cues from the classic Jaguar racers like the C-Type and D-type.
The car has three electric motors that put out a combined 1,600 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque. There is one electric motor at the front and two at the rear. This virtual hypercar is capable of a 0-62 mph time of fewer than two seconds, and it has a top speed of 200 mph.
The chassis is carbon fiber and aluminum alloy components. The car has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and weights about 3,000 pounds.
“This project has been completely led by our young designers and represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for them to create a vehicle steeped in our incredible heritage but pushing the boundaries of future design,” said Julian Thomson, Jaguar Design Director. “The team have done an incredible job in creating something which is clearly identifiable as a Jaguar, inspired – but not constrained – by our iconic past.”
The car will be available to gamers starting in November. This is one car that will not make it to production in real life, but it might inform future Jaguar builds.
