Leno Hits the Track

Famous host of โ€œThe Tonight Showโ€, Jay Leno, recently made an appearance at VARAโ€™s Goldenstate Classic race at Fontana driving a wild car that he has nicknmaed โ€œThe Tank.โ€

At 22-feet long and weighing in at 9000lbs, โ€œThe Tankโ€ derives its name from the 1790 cu.in., aircooled, V-12 engine sourced from a 1953 M47 โ€œPattonโ€ tank. According to Leno the street-legal beast produces 810 hp, 1550 lbs/ft of torque and has a top speed of 140 mph! Leno adds that the only transmission that could take all that power was an Allison HT740 derived from a Greyhound bus!
