Louie Unser

On March 2, Louis Unser passed away at the age of 72. Unยญser was the older brยญother of Bobby and Al Unser, Sr. and followed the family tradยญition of racecar drยญยญiving until 1964 when he was diagnosed with multiple scleยญยญยญยญยญrosis. After retiring from active driving, Unser went to work for Shelby Amยญerican building engines for the Cobra teยญam and working as a member of their pit crew. In 1966, Unser started his own business of building race engines and working on racecars. Unserโ€™s powerful engines took many drivers, including his brother Bobยญby and Mario Andretti, to victory in the famed Pikes Peak Hillclimb.

Unser is survived by LaVerne, his wife of 35 years, and his daughter Lynn.
