Mecum Indy Auction Preview

The 29th Annual Mecum Original Spring Auction returns once again to the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis on the weekend of May 17-21 for an event headlined as usual by American muscle cars. The five-day sale attracts consignments from across the nation and tens of thousands of spectators annually, with this yearโ€™s event offering some 2,000 consignments.

Leading the pack this year will be 17 cars from the Joe McMurray Collection, including a 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra roadster (above, David Newhardt photo Courtesy Mecum Auctions), a 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback and a 1967 Shelby GT350 Fastback. Other notable offerings include: from the Mike Guarise Collection, a pair of 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 four-speed convertibles, two of just 67 ever built, and a 1971 Stage 1 convertible that is one of just 11 built; from the Jeffrey Cohen Collection, one of 50 factory-built 1968 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet Lightweights; and the Kirt Fryer 1971 Mustang Collection that comprises six 1971 performance Mustangsโ€”two Boss 351s and four Cobra Jets, all offered with no reserves.
