New GT-H Auction to Benefit Shelby Foundation

An all-new 2016 Shelby GT-H prototype Mustang will be auctioned during Barrett-Jacksonโ€™s Mohegan Sun Auction in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Friday, June 24, with proceeds benefiting the Carroll Shelby Foundation. The Shelby GT-H celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ford Shelby Hertz GT350-H โ€œRent-A-Racer,โ€ and provides great performance in the classic black and gold Shelby and Hertz livery.

In 1966, Carroll Shelby approached Hertz with a unique opportunity to put customers in the driverโ€™s seat of high-performance special edition Shelbys. Ford supplied the new Mustangs, Shelby added extra performance and style and Hertz gave the public access to a unique driving experience. The three companies repeated the formula with the Shelby GT-H program in 2006 and again in 2016 with the 50th anniversary edition car. The limited-edition machine was unveiled as part of a special 50-year celebration during the recent New York Auto Show.

โ€œThis auction will help the Carroll Shelby Foundation continue Carrollโ€™s legacy,โ€ said Jenni Shreeves, the Foundationโ€™s Executive Director. โ€œThe money raised from this special Shelby will help provide medical assistance and educational opportunities for children, young people and those in need.โ€
