New Race Series for Prewar Cars

A new European race series for prewar sports cars has been launched by Duncan Wiltshire, organizer of the Le Mans Legend event. The seriesโ€”titled Motor Racing Legendโ€”is open to a huge range of sports cars from the โ€™20s and โ€™30s.

โ€œWeโ€™re aiming to recreate the heady days of Birkin against Caracciola, Blower Bentleys against the might of Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and Talbot, and the great endurance racing of Le Mans and the Mille Miglia,โ€ says Wiltshire. โ€œFrom the spectatorโ€™s point of view, sports cars of the prewar eraโ€”combining tremendous power with negligible gripโ€”are real favorites. Our aim is to create a series of the caliber of the much-lamented Coys Festival, with the emphasis on minimum bureaucracy and maximum fun.โ€

The series will comprise up to six roundsโ€”each consisting of two, 2-driver, 45-minute races on consecutive daysโ€”at circuits including Donington Park, Spa, the Nรผrburgring and other top European venues. Interested entrants should contact Duncan Wiltshire, at Motor Racing Legends, phone (U.K.)(44) (0)1933 624002 or e-mail: [email protected]
