RM Auctions staged its inaugural sale at the Salon Prive Concours d’Elegance on 23 June, 2011 at Syon Park in London, resulting in £5.1 million in total sales with 77% of lots sold.
The RM Auctions Salon Prive 2011 auction featured a selection of 57 British-built automobiles, including multiple Aston Martin, Jaguar and Rolls-Royce automobiles. Top sale of the single-day auction went to a 1929 Bentley Speed Six “Le Mans” Style Tourer
at £470,400, while a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Vantage Convertible, purchased new by famed actor and diplomat Sir Peter Ustinov, managed a final price of £431,200 – over £110,000 more than its pre-sale high estimate. The 1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Experimental Sports Tourer ’10EX’ sold for £392,000.
Another notable sale was the 1959 Jaguar XK150 3.8S Roadster for £201,600, a result that makes it one of the most valuable XK150’s ever sold at auction.

Strong bidding demonstrated the strength of the market for quality British cars,” says Max Girardo, Managing Director, RM Europe. “Aston Martins in particular have performed exceptionally well in recent months – a theme that was again evident at yesterday’s sale with spirited bidding and strong results achieved across the board.”

RM Auctions offered 57 automobiles for the Salon Prive auction, with 44 finding a new owner, reflecting a 77% sales rate. Total sales volume was £5,117,840 ($8,222,321 USD), inclusive of 12% buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was £116,314 ($186,870 USD). Exchange rate used: 1 GBP = 1.6066 USD.
