Russo & Steele Monterey (2016) – An Update

Following another fast paced, high energy showing on Fishermanโ€™s Wharf, downtown during Monterey, Californiaโ€™s famed collector car week, Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions has announced sales results totaling $8.6 Million with a 57 percent sell-through rate. Among the lots hammered sold was one that brought in more than $1 million, a 1953 Ferrari 250 GT Europa (above, photo courtesy of Russo and Steele), that fetched $1,155,000.

โ€œOur primary objective in Monterey in 2017 was to adhere to a much more selective Consignment process, and as such offer the cars the market wanted at very appropriate reserves,โ€ commented Russo and Steele CEO Drew Alcazar. โ€œThis simple approach equated to an exciting, dramatic sale, ending with a packed, standing room only event, every night of auction and the words โ€˜Sold, Sold, Sold!โ€™ echoing throughout every corner of downtown Monterey.โ€

Russo and Steeleโ€™s top five Monterey sales were:

  1. 1953 Ferrari 250 GT Europa โ€“ $1,155,000
  2. 2005 Porsche Carrera GT โ€“ $671,000
  3. 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback โ€“ $355,000
  4. 2008 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Silver Arrow โ€“ $352,000
  5. 2005 Ford GT โ€“ $305,000
