Mecum Auctions returned to Dallas on November’s first weekend and, over the span of just four days, sent some 756 cars home with new owners. Total sales for the event reached $24.6 million from a 73-percent sell-through rate.
The auction kicked off on the Wednesday when a large group of vehicles from the collection of Ron MacWhorter enjoyed a near-100-percent sell-through rate, with more than $2.4 million worth of collector cars changing hands in a matter of hours. Jim Fasnacht’s collection of American muscle cars crossed the block on Friday, with several ending up among the auction’s top sellers, including his 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda at $260,000 and his 1969 Dodge Daytona that brought in $242,500.
