Shelby GT350 Tops Mecum Dallas Auction

Mecum Auctions returned to Dallas on Novemberโ€™s first weekend and, over the span of just four days, sent some 756 cars home with new owners. Total sales for the event reached $24.6 million from a 73-percent sell-through rate.

The auction kicked off on the Wednesday when a large group of vehicles from the collection of Ron MacWhorter enjoyed a near-100-percent sell-through rate, with more than $2.4 million worth of collector cars changing hands in a matter of hours. Jim Fasnachtโ€™s collection of American muscle cars crossed the block on Friday, with several ending up among the auctionโ€™s top sellers, including his 1970 Plymouth Hemi โ€™Cuda at $260,000 and his 1969 Dodge Daytona that brought in $242,500.

Classic American muscle dominated the auctionโ€™s top 10 sellers list with top honors for a 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback (Patrick Ernzen photo courtesy of Mecum Auctions) at $410,000 and $335,000 for a rarely seen 1968 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro RS/SS.
