Simeone Award for Brock

Peter Brock, designer of the Cobra Daytona Coupe (above, photo courtesy David Newhardt), will be the honored guest at the Simeone Foundationโ€™s annual fundraising dinner, scheduled for 6 p.m. on November 16 in Philadelphia. The “Spirit of Competition” is the theme of the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, and each year a motorsports figure with a specific inspirational message is selected to receive the award. This year, Dr. Frederick Simeone will present that award to Peter Brock.

Brockโ€™s 60-year career in the automobile world began as a youngster when he was hired by Carroll Shelby. He soon designed the slick coupe body for Shelbyโ€™s already successful Cobra that helped the team bring the United States its first World Sports Car Championship. He subsequently went to work at General Motors, helping Bill Mitchellโ€™s team of designers create the Corvette Stingray Grand Sport. All of this and much more will be discussed as Brock provides a personal account of his life, reviewing his role in automotive design as well as highlighting his interesting current activities.
