It Is a Lot
The Hennessey Performance Venom F5 prototype was revealed two years ago. Since then there hasn’t been a whole lot out there about the upcoming hypercar. Hennessey was keeping a tight lid on its car. Now the company is opening up. Hennessey has now revealed the official horsepower for the car.
According to CarBuzz, the car features 1,817 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. Previously, the company said that the car produced over 1,600 hp. Well, it made good on that promise and then some. The company failed to reveal all of the performance numbers for the car though. This means that there are still some things up in the air.
However, Hennessey made it clear that it believes its Venom F5 could beat Bugatti’s insane top-speed record of over 304 mph. Judging by the power numbers, we’d say we have to believe Hennessey, but it will really come down to aerodynamics and if the car will be stable at speed.
The car certainly has enough power. Hennessey installed a 6.6-liter V8 engine named Fury in the engine bay of its hypercar. That is quite the powerplant. If Hennessey’s numbers are accurate, it will be plenty fast enough to challenge the Bugatti. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
