Last year, the Ford Mustang GTD made history by becoming the first American car to lap the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife in under seven minutes. Piloted by Multimatic Motorsports driver Dirk Müller, the GTD posted an impressive lap time of 6:57.685.
This officially recorded time placed the Mustang GTD as the fifth-fastest production sports car to ever lap the ‘Ring, and marked it as only the sixth car in its class to break the seven-minute mark. It fulfilled Ford CEO Jim Farley’s bold promise to deliver a street-legal American vehicle capable of such a feat.
Recently, Ford released a new video showing the Mustang GTD achieving an even quicker lap. The 815-horsepower machine shaved off five seconds from its previous time, setting a blistering 6:52.072 lap. This new record makes the GTD the fourth-fastest production car ever to conquer the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
