Wally Thomason pays tribute to Moss and Jenkinson’s record win.
“Prelude – anticipating 7:22, May 1, 1955. Jenkinson and Moss reflect the tension before the start of an all-out, record-setting victory that was notable less for Moss’ usual relaxed artistry than for sheer aggression and a 300SLR that refused to be broken. Not far behind, however, was the cool intelligence of Taruffi, driving solo in a Ferrari. He would be rewarded with the final, tragic victory two years later.”
