1936 Maserati 6CM Gallery

Maserati built the Maserati 6CM race car for the Voiturette racing series. It is a single-seater car produced from 1936 to 1940.

The 6CM was one of their most successful pre war designs that Maserati built, with a strong 175bhp inline six and lightweight 650kg chassis to speeds in the region of 140mph. It was a legitimate race car (see our full write up on the 1936 Maserati 6CM for more).

Many of the 6CMs were built for wealthy privateer entrants including Austin Dobson, Lord Howe and Johnny Wakefield. Several teams such as Scuderia Ambrosiana and Ecurie Helvetica also ran 6CMs, many of the greatest of the pre war drivers securing victories and places in the car. As well as strong results in Voiturette races, one even contested the 1938 Indianapolis 500 and several races at its home track of Modena.
