Car Of The Day: 2018 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Reviving a classic Aston Martin name, the DBS was based on the DB9 and replaced the Vanquish S as the brand’s flagship supercar.ย The DBS Superleggera takes its name from Carrozzeria Touringโ€™s bodywork on the DB4 and DB5.

Based on the DB11, it became Aston Martin’s top Grand Tourer, powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine producing 715bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque between 1,800 and 5,000rpm. The engine is mounted low and far back for better balance, paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission featuring torque vectoring and a mechanical limited-slip differential. The DBS Superleggera offers three driving modes: GT, Sport, and Sport Plus.

The car also features Aston Martin’s innovative “Aeroblade” aerodynamic system and an F1-inspired double diffuser for added downforce. Increased carbon fiber use reduced weight, while a four-pipe titanium exhaust enhances sound. The DBS Superleggera hits 0-62 mph in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 211 mph.
