Artcurial held its Motorcars Sur Les Champs 2011 auction on 30 October at the Marcel Dassault Hotel in Paris, resulting in sales of โฌ2.7 million and a 85% sell-through rate.
Artcurial offered a total of 68 motor cars a the 2011 sale, led by Maitre Herve Poulain and Matthieu Lamoure, director of Artcurial Motorcars. More than 500 people–including 330 registered bidders–packed into the makeshift saleroom in the garage of the hotel.
Top sale at Artcurial Paris sur les Champs 2011 went to the 1955 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, estimated at โฌ420-460,000, that sold for โฌ531,400, followed by a 1963 Facel Vega HK2 that fetched a world record โฌ204,500 (โฌ80-120,000 estimate) and a 1966 Aston Martin DB6 RHD that brought โฌ137,006 (โฌ90-130,000 estimate).
Other notable results included world record prices for the 1967 Renault 8 Gordini that sold for โฌ52,400 versus a โฌ30-50,000 estimate and the 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Cabriolet that changed hands for โฌ71,500 against a โฌ40-45,000 pre-sale estimate.
