The Artcurial Motorcars sale at Rรฉtromobile on February 3, 2012 set a record for an auction in France with an impressive sell-through of 90% for a total of โฌ 14.5 million. More than 100 cars crossed the block over the course of five hours with the ex-Roger Vadim 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder bringing almost a third of the nightโs overall take at โฌ 4,507,100. Strong prices were seen across the board with a 1913 Delaunay Belleville Type O6 8-liter selling for โฌ 471,800 and a 1938 Horch 853 Cabriolet bringing in โฌ 408,900. As expected, French marques attracted significant attention with a 1972 Citroรซn DS23ie Pallas hammered at twice the high estimate for โฌ 187,000 and an as new 1965 Citroรซn 2CV AZAM with only 116 miles on the odometer changing hands at โฌ 59,600. With a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano changing hands for โฌ 477,500 and a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet B selling at โฌ 494,600 it was clear that any concerns of a possible auction downturn on the continent were unfounded on this special night.
