Gooding Scottsdale 2015 – Auction Results

The Gooding and Company Scottsdale 2015 Auction was held January 16-17 nearby the Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona, resulting in more than $51,516,600 in total sales and a 90 percent sell-through rate. A total of eleven cars sold above $1,000,000 at Gooding’s 8th annual Arizona Auction Week sale and 25 set new auction records.

David Gooding, President and Founder of Gooding and Company, said, โ€œWith nearly a quarter of our lots setting new world auction records and 11 cars selling over $1 million this yearโ€™s Scottsdale Auctions proved to be a very strong sale all around. We are proud of the 90% sales rate achieved as it exemplifies our companyโ€™s ability to meet the marketโ€™s ever-shifting demands and trends while also maintaining our mission to present the highest quality examples to buyers around the world.โ€

The top result at the Gooding Scottsdale 2015 Auction went to the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, the 14th California Spider sold at a Gooding & Company Auction. Offered from the Jack Castor estate for public sale for the first time, this California Spider sold for $7,700,000.

Additional high points included a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso that sold for $1,925,000, a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico that made $4,070,000, a 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 that brought $1,980,000 and an original, low-mileage 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra for $1,155,000.

A highlight of Goodingโ€™s 2015 Scottsdale auction was a charity lot presentation from car collector and comedian Jay Leno, USO President J.D. Crouch II, and 36th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army General George Casey. Lenoโ€™s personal 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 generated $565,625 in contributions to the USO. The auctioneer dropped the hammer at $360,000 for the winning bidder, and that contribution was supported by over $200,000 in additional donations from other bidders and auction attendees.
