The 2015 Donington Historic Festival, set for the Bank Holiday weekend of May 2-4, will feature three full days of racing on the track as well as off-track attractions and associated demonstrations that will provide fans with full value for the price of their tickets.
The Festival will open on Saturday May 2 with a combined grid of Historic Grand Prix cars from the HGPCA representing both the pre-1961 and pre-1966 eras, as well as races for the HSCCโs Historic Formula Two and FJHRA Formula Juniorโboth front- and rear-engined.
Saturdayโs feature race, however, will be the 1000-kilometer race into darkness thatโs designed to recreate the spirit of the long-distance sports car battles of the early 1970s, and which will also feature Touring and GT cars in the entry.
Sunday will also produce a mini enduro, as pre-โ66 GTs and pre-โ63 sports cars from the World endurance Championship will contest the GT & Sports Car Cup. Historic F2 and Historic FJ will make second appearances that day as well.
On the holiday Monday, fans will be treated to the Jaguar Heritage Challenge, aimed directly at fans of Coventryโs Big Cats, as well as the Stirling Moss Trophy race for pre-1961 sports cars and the โMad Jackโ race for Pre-War sports cars. Also on tap will be Motor Racing Legendsโ Historic Touring Car Challenge for 1966-โ85 Touring Cars, the HRDCโs โTouring Greatsโ and the HSCC Super Touring Cars.
Off the racing surface will be an 80th Anniversary tribute to the very first Donington Grand Prix, as well as a display of โSupercars Across the Decades.โ The popular rally stages will once again host historic rally cars, with the mighty Group B machines and machines from the Historic Rally Car Register providing entertainment.
Historic karts will also return to the schedule, as will splendid infield displays staged by dozens of car clubs.ย Both the race and rally car paddocks will be open to all visitors. Advance discounted tickets can be purchased by visiting www.doningtonhistoric.com
