Le Mitiche Sport a Bassano (2015)

Not even the falling snow that greeted competitors as they crested the famed Stelvio Passโ€”Italyโ€™s highestโ€”could dampen the spirit of the 21st edition of Le Mitiche Sport a Bassano as it ran through the northern mountains between the 18th and 21st of June. Some 90 cars, all what the organizers call a Sport-Barchetta, and all built before 1959, tackled the event this year, representing 28 makes from 12 countries all around the globe, as they headed out from the start at Caโ€™ Comaro in Romano dโ€™Ezzelino.

Overall honors at the finish went to Osvaldo Peli and Nicola Donรก, whose victory in their 1934 Fiat 508 S Coppa dโ€™Oro earned both of them an Eberhard Watch from the event sponsorโ€™s special Tazio Nuvolari Collection. Second overall were Alberto and Riccardo Riboldi in a 1933 Fiat 508 S Siata, while 3rd went to Philippe Jolly and Salvatore Guerreri in a 1927 Amilcar CG SS. Iria Fernandez and Marta Gispert took Ladies Honors with their 1952 Allard JX2, while the Maserati class went to Luigino Grasselli and Silvana Savaris in a 1953 A6 GCS. Peli and Donรก won the Fiat class, of course, with Jose Fernandez and Montse Andrade winning the Ferrari class with a 1955 750 Monza, Keil Horst and Gino Perbellini topping the Jaguar class with their 1950 Biondetti Jag and Luigi and Amato Olvieri claiming top Alfa Romeo honors with their 1929 6C 1750 Sport. The Calmonte Trophy was presented to Flavio Gandolfi and Dino Brunori, who drove a 1952 Siata Diana GS.
