Formula 5000 Revival (2017) – Schedule Announced

The Formula 5000 Drivers Association has announced a 2017 schedule of events that features four race weekends in association with notable vintage racecar weekends around the country.

The season kicks off on the weekend of June 8-11 as part of the SVRAโ€™s Open Wheel World Challenge at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and follows up with a July 20-13 appearance at Road Americaโ€™s WeatherTech International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by Hawk (above, photo by Dan R. The third round takes place over the weekend of September 29-October 1 as part of CSRGโ€™s annual Charity Challenge at Sonoma Raceway, while the season wraps up once again as part of SVRAโ€™s U.S. Vintage National Championships weekend at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on November 1-5.

โ€œThese events set the stage for the upcoming 50th anniversary of Formula 5000 in 2018,โ€ said Formula 5000 Drivers Association president Seb Coppola, “and a number of celebration races at venues such as Road America and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca.โ€
