RUF Royalty: Broad Arrow to showcase ultra-rare CTR 2 Sport and more at 2025 Monterey Jet Center auction

Broad Arrow Auctionsโ€”part of the Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) familyโ€”is revving up for a landmark event at the 2025 Monterey Jet Center Auction, and at the heart of it all is a crown jewel of 1990s performance: the 1998 RUF CTR 2 Sport, estimated at $3Mโ€“$3.5M. For collectors, RUF devotees, and air-cooled aficionados alike, this is a once-in-a-generation offering.

The Apex of Air-Cooled Performance
Following in the tire marks of the legendary Yellowbird, RUFโ€™s CTR 2 was no mere sequelโ€”it was a revolution. Built on the Porsche 993 platform and infused with Group C DNA via a 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six inspired by the Porsche 962, the CTR 2 pumped out a staggering 580 horsepower and 505 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a RUF six-speed manual, it rocketed from 0โ€“60 mph in 3.6 seconds and topped out at 217 mphโ€”making it the fastest production car in the world when it launched.

But Alois Ruf wasnโ€™t done. Enter the CTR 2 Sportโ€”a rarer, rawer, and even more track-focused evolution. Just 14 examples were built, and the car is going under the hammer in Monterey, chassis no. W09BC0360WPR06007, is one of only four specified with all-wheel drive.

Originally delivered in non-metallic black over black leather to Frank Beddorโ€”a name synonymous with RUFโ€™s American presenceโ€”it received a factory refresh in Pfaffenhausen following minor transport damage. That work transformed it into a one-off: a stunning green leather interior, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, and a freshened presence that elevates it further into the stratosphere of collectability.

With only 16,679 miles and a fresh RUF North America service (July 2025), this CTR 2 Sport embodies everything that makes RUF specialโ€”earth-shattering performance wrapped in a package thatโ€™s still usable on real roads.

“This car represents one of the purest expressions of RUFโ€™s legacy,” says Alexander Weaver, Senior Car Specialist at Broad Arrow. “It blends motorsport pedigree with bespoke craftsmanship in a way that resonates with both seasoned collectors and the next-gen enthusiast.”
