Bentley Supersports returns: a century of Speed reborn

Exactly 100 years after the very first Bentley “Super Sports” shook the motoring world, the iconic nameplate returnsโ€”more extreme, more focused, and more unapologetically pure than ever. This is the fourth Supersports in Bentley history, and without question, the most radical Continental GT the brand has ever built.

With rear-wheel drive, two seats, and a curb weight under two tonnes, the new Continental GT Supersports marks a decisive shift toward driver engagement over top-speed chasing. This is Bentley at its most daring: a super-GT engineered with the intensity of a track weapon, yet wrapped in the unmistakable craftsmanship of Crewe.

At the heart of the Supersports beats a newly strengthened 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing a wicked 666 PS (657 bhp) and 800 Nm. Thereโ€™s no hybrid boost, no electrified trickeryโ€”just a raw internal combustion engine mated to an uprated eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox sending power exclusively to the rear wheels.

The titanium Akrapoviฤ exhaust system delivers a thunderous, entirely authentic V8 soundtrack, while the sprint to 62 mph comes in 3.7 seconds and top speed sits around 192 mph. But Bentley is clear: the headlines arenโ€™t the point. Engagement is.

For the first time outside the brandโ€™s GT3 race cars, a Continental GT sends all its power to the rear axle. With a wider rear track, a bespoke eLSD, torque vectoring, and recalibrated rear-wheel steering, the Supersports is engineered for sharper turn-in, deeper rotation, and a level of driver control previously unseen in a Bentley road car.

Three new drive modes shape the experience:

  • Touring: Balanced performance with refined ride height and subtle exhaust character.
  • Bentley Mode: Amplified dynamics with open-valve sound and launch control.
  • Sport: Maximum response, maximum attitude.

Switch everything off, and the Supersports becomes a controllable, rear-driven hooliganโ€”precise, predictable, and more alive than any Bentley before it.

The overall weight drops by nearly 500 kg compared to a standard Continental GT. That staggering reduction comes from: removal of rear seats and rear-cabin trim,ย reduced sound insulation, a carbon-fibre roof, deleted driver-assistance systems, lightweight exhaust and wheels

Add in a suite of motorsport-grade componentsโ€”new twin-chamber dampers, air springs, and the worldโ€™s largest production braking systemโ€”and the Supersports becomes a Bentley transformed.

When equipped with optional Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres, it achieves up to 1.3g of lateral grip and corners 30% faster than a Continental GT Speed.

The new Supersports is the most aggressive-looking Bentley ever, and every surface is functional. Highlights include: the largest front splitter ever fitted to a Bentley, stacked carbon dive planes, new side sills and B-shaped fender blades, a race-inspired diffuser, a fixed rear wing, over 300 kg more downforce than the GT Speed

In total, the aero package creates stability, balance, and dramaโ€”all while maintaining a true Bentley silhouette.

Inside, the rear seats are gone. In their place sits a sculpted carbon-fibre tub wrapped in leather, leaving space only for the driver and one passenger. New lightweight sports seats sit lower in the cabin, with high bolstering and carbon structure for a motorsport feel.

Materials include leather, Dinamica, gloss carbon fibre, and Supersports-specific embroidery. Every car receives an engraved, individual build numberโ€”one of just 500 units worldwide.

Customers can select: single-tone, duo-tone, or tri-tone interior themes, 22 main hide options, 11 secondary hides, 9 accent colours, unique aluminium or carbon trim finishes … this is Bentley at its most bespoke.

The Supersports began as a skunkworks idea in September 2024. A small engineering team asked: what if a rear-wheel-drive, sub-two-tonne Continental GT existed? Six weeks later, their mule hit the trackโ€”and the concept was approved.

The project was codenamed โ€œMildred,โ€ honouring Mildred Mary Petre, a fearless early racing pioneer who set a 24-hour endurance record in a Bentley 4ยฝ Litre in 1929. Her spiritโ€”courageous, relentless, and uncompromisingโ€”infused every part of the Supersports programme.

The Supersports lineage began in 1925, when the original 3 Litre โ€œSuper Sportsโ€ became the first Bentley to exceed 100 mph. Bentley revived the name in 2009 and again in 2017 with two of the fastest Continentals ever built.

The 2026 Supersports, however, charts a new course: not top speed, but pure engagement. It is the most extreme interpretation of the Continental GT philosophy ever attempted.

Bentley will produce 500 cars for global allocation, each individually numbered. Orders open in March 2026, production begins Q4 2026, and first deliveries start early 2027.

Markets include the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and major Middle Eastern regions.

The reveal will be celebrated with the most dramatic Bentley film ever, premiering in Dubai this January.

The 2026 Bentley Continental GT Supersports is more than a new flagshipโ€”itโ€™s a manifesto. A declaration that Bentley can still build machines driven by passion rather than regulation, machines that celebrate mechanical purity and driver involvement.

With its lightweight engineering, rear-drive layout, and ferocious V8, the Supersports marks the beginning of a new era for the brandโ€”one rooted in its past but aimed squarely at the enthusiasts of the future. If this is the next century of Bentley performance, itโ€™s going to be a thrilling ride.
