Genesis took two very different visions of performance to the Italian Alps this week, putting the Magma GT Concept and X Skorpio Concept through their paces at the 2026 Tutto Bene Hillclimb. The two concepts tackled the 9-kilometer Strada Borromea on Mottarone mountain, overlooking Lake Maggiore, giving both cars their first taste of a dynamic track environment.
Unveiled statically at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the Genesis Magma GT Concept made its long-awaited dynamic debut. The mid-engined grand tourer attacked the winding mountain road with the kind of focused performance its dramatic proportions promise, offering a glimpse at how Genesis intends to explore luxury through high-performance engineering.
The Magma GT was joined by the Genesis X Skorpio Concept, making its European debut. While the GT is designed around high-speed road performance, the X Skorpio takes Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance” philosophy in a completely different direction.
Developed for off-road competition, the X Skorpio features a tubular chassis and high-endurance hardware derived from Genesis’ competitive off-road development work. The result is a radically different interpretation of what a Genesis performance vehicle can be.
Behind the wheel was Genesis Magma Racing driver André Lotterer, who recently helped deliver the team’s best result of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season at the Lone Star Le Mans at Circuit of The Americas.
Lotterer, Pipo Derani and Mathys Jaubert recovered from an early incident and penalty with the No. 17 GMR-001 Hypercar to finish seventh, bringing home valuable championship points.
Genesis also brought its GMR-001 Hypercar to Tutto Bene, along with the Genesis Box Buggy Concept. The latter serves as a technical demonstrator incorporating technology developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Mobis division.
Two very different takes on performance
The contrast between the Magma GT and X Skorpio was central to Genesis’ presence at the event. One is a sophisticated, mid-engined grand tourer designed around road-going performance. The other is an uncompromising off-road machine built around durability and extreme terrain.
Together, they showcase the increasingly broad definition of performance within the Genesis brand.
Created by Los Angeles-based Race Service and Milan-based BorromeodeSilva, Tutto Bene 2026 brought 85 exceptional automobiles to one of Italy’s most dramatic settings. The event isn’t a traditional race, instead celebrating automotive design, engineering and driving culture against the backdrop of the Italian Alps.
For Genesis, the event provided an opportunity to bring its latest performance concepts into the real world while embracing Tutto Bene’s “slow down to go fast” philosophy. And in the case of the Magma GT and X Skorpio, the journey up Mottarone proved just as important as the destination.
