A New Designation for the 21st Century

Every car guy, collector and car designer knows the two major categories that separate car designsโ€”Pre-war and Post-war. Pre-war cars are generally regarded as cars that span from the very first โ€œhorseless carriagesโ€ all the way up to the start of the U.S. engagement in World War II. Post-war cars continue immediately after WWII ended and industry could again begin making new cars. Of course the first offerings after the war were simply reworked pre-war models, but it was a start.

Hasnโ€™t it been a pretty long time since the end of WWII? Shouldnโ€™t there be a third era to distinguish the significant design and radical manufacturing advances between a 1950 Ford and a 2014 Prius?
