Bentley unveils Dutch Masters Collection at Rijksmuseum

Bentley Mulliner has revealed three one-off Continental GT models inspired by the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh, marking a rare fusion of fine art and automotive craftsmanship. The cars debuted during an exclusive event at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, with the museum’s Gallery of Honour providing a fitting backdrop for Mulliner’s latest bespoke creations.

The Dutch Masters Collection comprises three individually commissioned Bentleys, each translating the colour palettes, textures and motifs of a Dutch master into contemporary grand touring form. More than 200 guests from Bentley Leusden, Bentley Rotterdam and Bentley Maastricht attended the unveiling, which combined a virtual preview of the cars with a private dinner among some of the world’s most celebrated paintings.

Rembrandt-Inspired Continental GT Convertible

The first commission draws inspiration from Rembrandt’s The Night Watch (1642). Finished in Midnight Emerald, the Continental GT Convertible mirrors the dramatic chiaroscuro of the original painting. Inside, Magnolia hide forms the primary upholstery, contrasted with Cumbrian green and punctuated by Hotspur red accents, echoing the sash worn by Captain Frans Banninck Cocq.

Gold-finished air vent organ stops add a sense of opulence, while a feather motif, referencing the lieutenant’s plume in the painting, appears on the door cards, treadplates and illuminated welcome lamp animation. The fascia and waistrails are finished in Piano Cumbrian green, completing a richly layered interior.

Vermeer-Inspired Continental GT

Johannes Vermeer’s mastery of light informed Mulliner’s second creation, a Continental GT finished in Sapphire satin. Designed to reflect the clear daylight of Delft interiors, the car features a panoramic sunroof and an interior palette of Beluga and Ocean blue hides, highlighted by Citric yellow accents and Klein blue seat piping.

Motifs from Vermeer’s The Little Street (1658) appear on the door cards and welcome lamp animation in the form of softly billowing clouds. Piano Black veneers dominate the fascia, while bespoke details include a Klein blue painted accent ring and knurled bezel for the Bentley Rotating Display.

Van Gogh-Inspired Continental GT

The third model takes its cues from Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. Finished in Dark Sapphire with Khamun yellow pinstriping, the Continental GT channels Van Gogh’s expressive palette through a blend of Imperial blue, Linen and Khamun accent hides.

A swirling night-sky motif appears in both the illuminated welcome lamp animation and etched door panels, while the dual-finish Piano Linen fascia is bisected by a Dark Sapphire pinstripe. Khamun yellow details, seen in the contrast stitching, embroidered Bentley emblems and accent hide, echo Van Gogh’s use of Indian yellow in his celestial compositions. Additional bespoke touches include open-pore chiselled walnut trim and gold-finished knurled air vent organ stops.

Art Meets Automotive Excellence

Each Dutch Masters Collection Bentley is delivered with a bespoke presentation key box, trimmed in matching hides and laser-etched with its respective artistic motif. All three cars feature Blackline Specification, Touring Specification and body-coloured styling kits, along with Wellness seating, mood lighting, diamond knurling, Bentley Rotating Displays and Naim for Bentley audio systems.

With the Dutch Masters Collection, Mulliner once again demonstrates its ability to blur the boundaries between art and automotive design, creating rolling works of art that are as rare as the masterpieces that inspired them.
