[Book Review] The Antique & Classic Cars Series

The Antique & Classic Cars Series

By Richard C. Wheatley and Brian Morgan

โ€œThe Restoration of Antique and Classic Carsโ€ was originally published in the United Kingdom, in 1958, under the title โ€œThe Restoration of Vintage and Thoroughbred Cars.โ€ Today, Wheatley and Morganโ€™s book, along with its companion volume โ€œAntique & Classic Cars: Their Maintenance and Operationโ€ (available separately), is justifiably considered to be a classic and informative description of the work involved in overhauling and restoring antique and pre-war British cars.

Written by renowned members of the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) during the 1950s, these two books serve dual roles. On the surface, these books provide a nostalgic look at the then relatively new craft of restoring vintage automobiles. However, despite their age, there is still much to be learned about the restoration and maintenance of pre-war vehicles within in these pages. Now reprinted in hardback form with numerous b/w images and illustrations, these two books will be a welcome addition for any owner of a pre-war vehicle.
