Bugatti has taken bespoke automotive craftsmanship to unprecedented heights with the launch of Programme Solitaire, a new, ultra-exclusive initiative focused on producing completely one-off vehicles. The first in the series: the stunning Bugatti Brouillard, a hand-built coupé that blends heritage, performance, and artistry into a single, highly personalized creation.
Solitaire builds on Bugatti’s rich coachbuilding legacy, dating back over a century, when iconic models like the Type 57 SC Atlantic and its variants were designed in-house by Jean Bugatti. The new program revives that spirit, promising a maximum of just two bespoke cars per year – each one tailored from the ground up in collaboration with its commissioning client.
While Bugatti Sur Mesure already offers extensive personalization, Programme Solitaire goes even further, combining custom bodywork, interior design, and storytelling into truly one-of-a-kind vehicles.
The debut model, Brouillard, French for “fog”, pays tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s favorite horse of the same name. This equine inspiration is reflected not just in the name, but throughout the vehicle’s design, materials, and craftsmanship. From embroidered horse motifs in the interior to a miniature sculpture of Brouillard encased in the gear shifter, the car is a rolling tribute to the Bugatti family’s artistic and mechanical roots.
Under the sculpted bodywork lies the most powerful iteration of Bugatti’s famed 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, delivering 1,600 PS. Brouillard rides on the final evolution of the carbon-fiber and aluminum chassis that underpinned the Chiron Super Sport, making it a technical masterpiece as well as an aesthetic one.
Its design draws on classical artistic proportions, with the lower third of the body finished in darker tones to ground the car visually. The ducktail rear wing, optimized rear diffuser, and integrated aero elements maintain Bugatti’s hallmark balance between form and function.
Inside, Brouillard features a blend of heritage materials and modern innovation. Custom tartan-woven fabrics from Paris, green-tinted carbon fiber, and precision-machined aluminum components elevate the cabin to something akin to an art gallery. A glass roof enhances the spaciousness, while the signature center spine flows from the exterior through to the cabin in a seamless visual line.
Each seat is custom-molded for the owner and finished in a unique leather pattern, underscoring the level of personal attention the Solitaire program commands.
The client behind Brouillard is more than just a collector of Bugatti automobiles; they also collect Carlo Bugatti’s furniture and Rembrandt Bugatti’s sculpture, making this commission a personal homage to the family’s multifaceted legacy. The design reflects this deep connection, uniting mechanical engineering, artistic vision, and family history in one remarkable vehicle.
The Bugatti Brouillard will make its public debut at Monterey Car Week, offering enthusiasts and collectors a glimpse into the future of Bugatti’s ultra-luxury craftsmanship. With just two Solitaire commissions per year, each model promises to be a singular expression of automotive artistry.
