Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille is celebrating Ferrariโs 70th anniversary with an exceptional retrospective retracing Maranelloโs history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this September 10. Some 30 significant cars that have taken part in the fabled race will be on display on Le Nรดtreโs lawns at the chateau.
Celebrating the anniversary by retracing Ferrariโs history at the Le Mans 24 Hours is fitting for Peter Auto, which also organizes the biennial Le Mans Classic in association with the Automobile Cub de lโOuest. In 56 events at La Sarthe since 1949, Ferrari has registered 407 entries that have scored nine outright victories and 21 category wins โ the most recent coming this year in LM GTE Am.
Among the Ferraris on display will be: the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (0728TR) that, driven by Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill, gave the Scuderia its third Le Mans overall victory in 1958 (above, Thierry Desvignes photo courtesy of Peter Auto); the Ferrari โBreadvanโ built by Giotto Bizzarrini and Carlo Chiti on a short-chassis 250 GT in 1962; the รquipe Nationale Belge Ferrari 250 GTO (4293GT)โจ with which โJean Beurlysโ and Gerhard Langlois won the GT class while finishing 2nd overall in 1963; the Ferrari 330 P4 (0858)โจ with which Mike Parkes and Ludovico Scarfiotti finished 2nd to Dan Gurney and A.J. Foytโs victorious Ford MkIV in 1967; and the Ferrari 512 S Berlinetta (1016) that starred in Steve McQueenโs film Le Mans that was shot in the summer of 1970.
