Top Gear managed to get a hold of the Eccentrica, the restomod version of the original Lamborghini Diablo, ahead of the official unveiling during Monterey Car Week in California, the car shown in this video is the Rose Phoenix, Eccentrica’s second prototype, finished in triple-layer Rose Gold, with semi-matte black contrasts and a refined interior finished in Coconut Alcantara and Maxpell leather, together with the former Chief Technology Officer of Automobilli Lamborghini, Top Geat was able to drive the early 90’s Lamborghini Diablo before taking a seat inside this re-imagined, New Diablo.
Launched by entrepreneur Emanuel Colombini, founder of Eccentrica Cars, the Eccentrica V12 is a carefully crafted restomod of the classic Lamborghini Diablo, the project emerged from Colombini’s deep admiration for the original design, aiming to enhance everyday usability while preserving the car’s soul.
Based on the Lamborghini Diablo, the Eccentrica retains its iconic silhouette, but with precise tweaks such as carbon-fiber bodywork, shorter overhangs, wider stance, and modern aerodynamic elements, exterior updates include LED lighting (front fascia lighting, taillights), reimagined vents, roof scoops, Capristo exhaust, and modern 19-inch Pirelli-wrapped alloy wheels.
The upgraded naturally aspirated 5.7 L V12 now produces around 550 hp and 600 Nm of torque—thanks to new camshafts, an electronic throttle body, and optimized flywheel, power is routed through a bespoke six-speed gated manual gearbox with revised ratios and smoother delivery.
Reinforced chassis with composite materials, updated double-wishbone suspension, active dampers, Brembo brakes, power steering, and a front-axle lift system make the car significantly more refined and livable.
Inside, the Eccentrica mixes retro style with modern tech. The gated shifter remains, but now accompanies a digital display and infotainment system integrated into the dash, added features include a digital rearview mirror, Marantz audio system, Alcantara upholstery, and customizable elements—reflecting both comfort and craftsmanship.
Production is extremely limited, only 19 examples will be built, with deliveries beginning in summer 2025, the price is xpected to hover around €1.2 million ($1.3 million), excluding the cost of the donor Diablo, the next performance chapter of the Eccentrica V12 will be unveiled at The Quail during Monterey Car Week this August in the United States.
This car exemplifies a rare blend: it respects iconic design while embracing modern engineering. It speaks to collectors who cherish nostalgia but demand performance and usability.
