Were you to go looking for Ed Pink tomorrow, you’d likely find him at his latest shop, Ed Pink’s Garage, just off U.S. 101 out in the West San Fernando Valley. There, aided by his old buddy Bob Brandt, he’s available to provide “technical expertise and services to automotive enthusiasts with unique projects.” Ed began building engines in high school and has yet to stop. In between stretches a career worthy of induction by six Halls of Fame, beginning with legendary accomplishments in drag racing, an Indy 500 triumph(maybe only Indy 500), success in IMSA’s landmark GTP category, and innumerable race wins and season championships in USAC midget and Silver Crown competition, as well as maximizing the resources available to develop Infiniti’s fledgling IRL program. VR Associate editor John Zimmermann drove up to Ed’s new place to talk to the Old Master about the life he’s lived.
