The 15th annual Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance will pay tribute to the Silver Screen in this year’s exclusive “Life on the Silver Screen” exhibit sponsored by the South Carolina Film Commission. Now in its eighth year, the Festival’s “Life” exhibits honor American automotive culture and era-specific vehicles with a different theme each year, and this year will feature a collection of vehicles that have not previously been seen together.
“This year’s ‘Life’ exhibit celebrates the starring and supporting roles that automobiles have played throughout motion picture and television history,” said Carolyn Vanagel, the Festival’s President.
The Festival is rolling out its red carpet for starring vehicles and tribute cars that have played some of the biggest roles in Hollywood, an exhibit headlined by vehicles such as the 1967 Volvo 1800S from TV’s The Saint and the Aston Martin DB10 (above) from the recent James Bond film Spectre.
Among the other cars with Hollywood connections that will grace the showfield are: the 1976 Lotus Esprit and a 1976 Lotus Esprit Marine from the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me; the 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 forever known as the Time Machine from Back to the Future; the 1959 Bentley S-1 from Breakfast at Tiffany’s; the 1968 Ford Mustang GT500 “Eleanor” from Gone in 60 Seconds; the 1974 Dodge Monaco that served as the “Bluesmobile” for the Blues Brothers; and the #46 City Chevrolet from 1990’s Days of Thunder.
