La Jolla Concours (2018) – Bugatti Wins Best in Show

The 2018 La Jolla Concours dโ€™Elegance concluded its 14thย year on a high note last Sunday, April 8, with more than 10,000 attendees taking in a selection of classic automobiles set along the picturesque cliffs of the Pacific Ocean in the California seaside city (above, Stacey Keck photo courtesy of the La Jolla Concours dโ€™Elegance).

More than 135 stunning examples of automotive innovation competed in 20 classes โ€” as well as for 17 specialty awards โ€” during the La Jolla Concours. From the featured marque, Lincoln, to incredible one-of-a-kind automobiles, American classics, vintage racecars, a spectacular display of Japanese Collectables and more, this yearโ€™s event evoked a museum of moving sculpture. Eyes were also turned skyward for a vintage air parade, presented by Icon Aircraft and featuring beautifully restored aircraft from the Historic Flight Foundation, including a B-25 Mitchell Bomber, Douglas C-47/DC-3 transport plane, and B-25D โ€œGrumpy.โ€

The eventโ€™s Best of Show award was presented to Peter Mullin of the Mullin Automotive Museum for his astounding 1939 Bugatti Type 57SC Aravis Cabriolet. A listing of Class and Special Award winners follows:
