Laffite Races Morgan

A historically unlikely motorsport marriage was consummated at the end of July. Former Ligier and Williams Formula One driver Jacques Laffite joined forces with the Morgan car company to race a Morgan Aero 8 GT at this yearโ€™s 24 Hours of Spa.

The French racing star, who scored six wins and ten 2nd place finishes during his 1974โ€“1986 Formula One career, joined co-drivers Neil Cunningham and Paula Cook behind the wheel for the Belgian endurance classic, only to have their efforts cut short by a shunt in pouring rain.

Undaunted, the team is continuing to work towards competing in next yearโ€™s 24 Hours of Le Mans. According to Morgan managing director Charles Morgan, โ€œWe are really honored to have Jacques Laffite behind the wheel of a Morgan. This is a really exciting development for us, and Iโ€™m sure for Morgan supporters worldwide.โ€
