Jo Siffert and his BRM Artwork
Richard Wheatland captures Swiss F1 star Jo Siffert and his BRM at Brands Hatch moments before his fatal crash.
Lap 14 is an oil on canvas painting of Jo Siffert in the Yardley BRM P160 driving the last lap of his life. It was the 14th lap of the 1971 Victory Race at Brands Hatch. The reference for this painting is a 35mm slide I took as a spectator at the race. I was watching at Westfield on that lap, my next picture from the sequence on that day was the burnt out wreck of the BRM at Hawthorns. Painting this brought back many memories of that tragic day, and the loss of a great driver.
