I wrote a book on the history of March, which came out in 1989 under the title, โ€œFour Guys And A Telephone.โ€ A telephone was all that Robin Herd, Graham Coaker, Alan Rees and Max Mosley had when they agreed to establish March. They then each put in ยฃ2,500 as start-up capital and started building racing cars.

A factory was secured in Bicester, near Oxford, and the planning application said โ€œwarehouseโ€ to bat off any objections. Twenty years, and nearly 1,500 racing cars later, the factory was still a warehouse, officially.
