Mecum Monterey (2015) – Mecum Monterey Ferraris

The Prancing Horses of Ferrari will be galloping into Mecumโ€™s Monterey Auction next weekend as more than 25 of the fine Italian machines from Maranello grace its annual Daytime Auction at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa โ€“ Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey, California, August 13-15.

The ensemble will feature:

  • 1968 330 GTS once owned by casino magnate Bill Harrah, a superb silver V12 convertible carrying serial number 10913;
  • 1964 275 GTB โ€œShort Noseโ€ (above), serial number 6563, also silver and rolling on rare Carello โ€œStarburstโ€ alloy wheels;
  • 1964 250 GT/L โ€œLusso,โ€ serial number 5817, a matching numbers black-plate California car presented in pristine light blue;
  • 1972 365 GTB/4 Daytona, serial number 15757, with the traditional red paint and a front-mounted V12;
  • 1973 Dino 246 GTS, serial number 07134, lithe and stylish in classic red, itโ€™s named for Il Commendatoreโ€™s beloved son, Alfredino;
  • 1989 F40, serial number 00080727, with an odometer reading only 8,917 kilometers, finished in red, a fine example of the last Ferrari model that Enzo himself personally supervised;
  • 2011 599 GTB โ€œAlonso Final Edition,โ€ serial number B0187131, a red rocket with a 611-hp V12 produced to honor Ferrariโ€™s F1 ace, Fernando Alonso;
  • 2013 458 Italia, serial number D0189375, a red example of the car honored by several automotive magazines as โ€œbest car in the world.โ€

At least that many other Ferraris will also cross the block, among them the white 1986 Testa Rossa used in the television series Miami Vice, a yellow 1989 328 GTS with just 1,269 kilometers on its clock and a 2003 575LM in shimmering red with the Fiorano handling package and a 6-speed gated shifter.
