As you’ll read in various sections of this month’s issue, the 2013 season got off to a surprisingly hot start with the annual orgy of collecting that is the Scottsdale auctions. While I want to come back around to what the overall market seems to be doing and where it is going, I think I’ll explore that in the next issue, after the results from Amelia Island are in.
However, Scottsdale did underscore for me an interesting sub-trend within the market that seems to have developed over the past several years. It is what I euphemistically like to call, the “Rise of the Eclectics.”
