Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions have announced the final sales results from their Fisherman’s Wharf Monterey Auction where a 51 percent sell-through rate yielded nearly $11 million in total sales, a figure exceeding 2015’s numbers.
Leading the way was a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Coupe that gaveled for $1,050,105, with the second-highest price being the $836,000 paid for a 2004 Ford GT Prototype. Third-best seller was a 1993 Jaguar XJ220 (above) with an odometer reading of just 871 kilometers that sold for $435,000.
“We really have to point to the support of our wonderful bidders, consignors and attendees,” said Russo and Steele CEO Drew Alcazar, “and say thanks for what was Russo and Steele’s most successful auction season to date. We can’t wait to do it again in 2017!”
Russo and Steele will open its 2017 auction season with its flagship event next January 18-22 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
