Bonhams Greenwich (2015) – Special Bugatti for Bonhams Greenwich Sale

Among the many attractions of the 20th Annual Greenwich Concours dโ€™Elegance, scheduled for May 30-31 at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, Connecticut, will be a supercharged 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Cabriolet with coachwork by Gangloff that is being offered at Bonhams Greenwich Concours dโ€™Elegance Auction on Sunday May 31.

Introduced in 1934, the Type 57 opened a new era for the company as Jean Bugatti, son of โ€œLe Patron,โ€ Ettore Bugatti, assumed to reins. It featured numerous technical advances, including its dual-overhead cam, five-main-bearing eight-cylinder engine, a transmission with synchromesh on its top three gears, and a single-plate clutch.

The Type 57 was one of Bugattiโ€™s most successful models, and this particular 57C represents a later derivative, being an original supercharged example, and sporting cabriolet bodywork by Gangloff coachbuilders. It is expected to draw bids in the $1 million range.
