The Gordon Murray Special Vehicles S1 LM is a limited-production supercar, conceived as a modern tribute to the McLaren F1 LM. The S1 LM reflects Murrayโs core design principlesโlightness, purity, and engineering precisionโwhile marking the first and most important project from Gordon Murray Special Vehicles.
Powered by a bespoke 4.3-liter Cosworth V-12 producing more than 700 hp at 12,100 rpm, the S1 LM is engineered to deliver one of the most responsive naturally aspirated driving experiences ever offered in a road car. With a target weight of just 957 kg, a central driving position, and an exclusive six-speed manual gearbox, it is shaped for peak analog engagement.
The S1 LMโs carbon-fiber bodywork, sculpted through traditional clay modeling and refined using advanced computational aerodynamics, is lighter, narrower, and more athletic than the T.50 from which it takes inspiration. A reengineered carbon monocoque lowers the roofline and reduces mass while increasing rigidity. The V-12 sits beneath an Inconel exhaust wrapped in 18-karat gold shielding and visible through a lightweight polycarbonate cover. Extensive weight savings extend to forged wheels, simplified interior components, and ultra-thin carbon panels.
Inside, performance tools such as a GPS lap timer accompany artisanal details, including a shift knob featuring a rare quartz crystal. The carโs development also carries personal meaning for Murray, who continued the project through cancer treatment.
The first S1 LM will be available for bidding through RM Sotheby’s on November 21 and give its buyer to join the final development process, participate in test drives, and shape a fully bespoke specificationโan experience that transforms ownership into a direct partnership with Gordon Murray and his Special Vehicles team.
