Top Gear Drives The World’s First Super Tourer: Aston Martin DB12

The all-new 2024 Aston Martin DB12 definitely possesses the power to substantiate its claim as a “super tourer.” It is equipped with a formidable 4.0L dual twin-scroll turbocharged V8 engine, unleashing an impressive 670 HP at 6000 RPM and 590 lbs-ft of torque between 2,500 and 6,000 RPM.

Power is efficiently transmitted through a rear axle mounted ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, featuring electronic shift-by-wire technology and connected to the engine via a carbon fiber prop shaft housed in an alloy torque tube. Despite its curb weight of 3,981 lbs, the DB12 surges past the 60 MPH mark in a swift 3.5 seconds. With a top speed of 202 MPH, it ranks among the fastest non-limited-edition Aston Martins in history.

Notably, the DB12 exudes an appearance that means business. Its bodywork has undergone skillful enhancements, striking a balance between the muscularity of the DBS and contemporary design elements with sharper defined creases. The wheels fitting snugly within the arches, the enlarged intakes, the curvature of the bonnet, and the broad haunches contribute to its sleek and aggressive aesthetic.

Ollie Marriage from Top Gear gets behind the wheel of the Aston Martin DB12 to see if it has what it takes to be a real “super tourer”.
