there's only one problem...I read the article, and the Enzo is NOT quicker than the Mclaren F1, in either 0-60 and the 1/4.

  2. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

It's amazing a 10 year old car can still beat the might of Ferrari. BTW the mclaren can do 0-60 in 3.1, and in my opinion the mclaren looks better.+ i've seen a mclaren in person.

Road and Track tested the Enzo to be quicker than the McLaren F1 and Saleen S7, although I believe if I remember correctly the McLaren they tested was later discovered to have engine problems which they believe was the reason for the slower than expected times.

I'm going to try and post pics of the articles from the Road & Track review along with pics of me sitting in the Enzo at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Let's see if this works. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

Every year the Los Angeles, California area holds two car shows of primary interest to me. Those being the Anaheim International Auto Show and the Los Angeles International Auto Show. Each year I attempt to sit in a car that relatively few have the opportunity to. This past January that car happened to be the Enzo. It was closing time the beautiful Ferrari spokesWOMAN (her beauty almost stole the show away from the Enzo) slips behind the enzo decorative wall to retrieve the keys to lock this masterpiece and this is when I made my move. I jumped over the barriers and sat in a car only a fortunate few will ever have the opportunity to enjoy. Last year it was the Saleen S7. To date I haven't been able to get inside a Lamborghini Murcielago; they're always either locked or heavily guarded as was the case this last auto show. But there is always the future to look forward to and I guarantee I will sit inside in the Murcielago eventually. To date I've sat in a multitude of sports/super cars due to car shows, such as corvettes, vipers, lotus', maserati's, m3, m5, f1 car, saleens, lamborghini's. For me it's part of the joy I get out of going to these shows, the thrill of getting to sit in these cars if everything goes as planned. To date I haven't gotten kicked out of a show and I hope I can continue this luck and sit in the Murcielago and maybe a Bentley (also heavily guarded) this January.

Edit: I blocked out my face for reasons of personal privacy. I don't feel like havening my face floating around the internet. And you never know, someone from the auto shows might be watching. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/wink.gif"></A>

It's really annoying how everyone seems to have to repeat this time and time again. The times you're refering it's from the prototype XP5. It didn't have the rev limiter and it's not street legal. Also the F1 isn't 10 years old.

  12. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

The performances have been found in the USA, or in Fiorano track, like happened for Autocar, EVO and Top Gear?

The tests were done in the USA. If I remember correctly the article mentions Utah, so that is where it might have occured. Take a look at the article I posted above it should say in there. The Ferrari was tested due to the fact that a kind American owner of the Enzo allowed them to test it and along the way drove it more than 1500 miles! For what purpose? Probably to show just how driveable and reliable the car really is. The article above has some nice spreadsheet comparisons of the 3 cars. What I still can't understand is how a car like the McLaren can only manage 0.86 g on the skidpad, isn't this car supposed to have great handling? I've watched the Top Gear episode of Tiff Needle testing the McLaren and it does seem to have a lot of body roll, but that seems to be due to the cause that it is relatively high off the ground.

Well for example if you compare it to tyhe F50 it does have lots of body roll.

  15. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

it is street legal and the f1 IS 10 years old.

  16. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

The McLaren F1 XP5 is not street legal, and it’s quite different from the standard road going F1 in terms of performance. Also the time difference between the F1 and the Enzo is 9 years.

    Exactly!

  18. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

Surely not Bill Gates. He has a Mercedes CLK-GTR (US$ 1,000,000 or more). He'll not think about these "cheap" cars like Enzo.

Who knows... maybe he's looking for a McLaren now...

  19. Re: Enzo & Autocar: the complete article

Guess you don't know prices either. A Enzo Ferrari costs about $700,000 from Ferrari. BUT a few are for sale in DuPont Registy for OVER 1 million dollars. One was going for $1.5 million!
