Neon owners... why???

  1. I will race your neon with my 917/30.

  2. I will race your Neon with my 70 horsepower SV-650S.

  3. Only because car makers stopped making RWD cars in those classes because FWD is cheaper. If someone made a BMW 2002esque or Beetleesque car it could mop up.

  4. Because the Audi is probably more expensive for one, and for 2 Audi just put more effort into it. Saying car A is better than B at X means nothing in the scheme of things, especially stock. Fact is RWD is a better performance platform, period. It literally comes down to physics. FWD can't put down high power numbers properly because the front end comes up during acceleration. Hence no really high end performance cars are FWD.

    Miata>TT

  5. You are right about the physics part, but a Miata won't outhandle a TT. And the TT is not the only Front wheel drive car which handles briliantly.
    Look up my other examples.

  6. But what if i told you that it outhandles cars like a BMW 130i, or Mazda R8, Honda S2000. Cars which are all about the same weight yet all do not prove to be faster around a track.

  7. FWD is extremely easy to drive under high power vs RWD.

in the hands of an inexperianced driver the FWD car will be faster on many occasions. Case in point: when i had my GTi on the track for the first time i passed all kinds of 911s and such (including turbos). We were in the first-or-second timers class, so ease of driving played a much larger role.

  8. So in other words, PASHYUN ZOMG!!!11 > Physics

  9. but FWD is like the opposite of passion! :s

  10. Wrongness.

  11. So cool!

  12. What is faster than those cars on a track again?

BTW, I can find plenty of heavier cars outhandling much lighter cars in the same class. Would I be proving that lighter is NOT better for handling?

Have you noticed that, when manufacturing a car for performance companies almost NEVER use FWD? The few exceptions are usually performance versions of an already FWD design, ie. Civic Type R, SVT Focus, Neon SRT-4, etc. Hell, name one FWD Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Lamborghini, etc... And the manufacturers that do typically use FWD will revert to RWD for their performance models. Like Corvette, Camaro, NSX, GT, Mustang, RX8, etc.

  13. lotus elan.

  14. ftw!

  15. Dude, I'd be willing to be that a Miata track car and a TT track car would be comparable IF NOT the Miata winning. Just because one car is tuned better from the factory does not mean that a different one can't be better modified. See next posts.

  16. FWD is in fact easier for your average Joe. But I personally don't care. It's like saying an automatic tranny is better for someone who doesn't drive stick well... It may be easier, but it's not "better" per se.

  17. I don't think anyone here is saying that all FWD cars are garbage or anything like that. We're simply saying as a rule of thumb RWD is better for performance oriented cars. Especially those with lots of power.

  18. civics are also for stupid little teenagers who think a civic is fast because of the fast and the furious hahahaha

  19. I've seen fast Civics.

  20. You drive a Xb. Your point is moot.

  21. This thread is useless without Neon owners.

  22. Wut?

  23. gtfo

  24.
  25. "haha...wow , has anyone read the posts that the other guys in the SUPERCARS.NET posted. man i read a few pages, i will read more , but man, i like it when people bash "US neon owners, because when i see your headlights in my rearview mirror , all that bashing turns into adrenaline, gotta love the face of a so called "supercar" owner..ive pulled quite a few. anyways if you guys get offended by them, then you have some growing to do, werd homie ..
