New Camaro, is LS2 confirmed?

  1. Has it been confirmed that the new V8 Camaro will come with the LS2? I heard talk a while back about using a smaller, OHC engine.
  2. I have no idea, but I'd be eternally shocked if GM didn't use the conventional OHV small block.
  3. I'm pretty sure. I don't think they have anything but the LS engines that'd work in it. V6 model will be OHC, but not the higher end models.

EDIT: 2 seconds after posting I remembered they have the Northstars... But I still highly doubt those would go in the Camaro.
  4. its pretty much a given that it will get the LS2... but also a V6, and possibly the LS7... if the shelby mustang gets decent sales...
  5. I read something that they're could be 2 V6s and they are still toying with what V8 to use.....

I'd be very surprised if they didnt use an LS2
  6. A high output 6 instead of a low output 8 could be ok. I think psychologically though people would rather buy a 300HP V8 over a 300HP V6.
  7. Definitely, but this could be Chevs way of making people spend more money on a Camaro to have a V8.
  8. Holden has that "high-output" alloy V6 which is 190kW... I'm sure with some work 300hp wouldn't be out of the question.
  9. that would be awesome.
  10. Rotary.
  11. Hybrid
  12. a hybrid diesel rotary.
  13. I am pretty sure they would almost have to use the LS2. I can't see the northstar, but it is a great motor and there would not be anything wronge with that. But i think we are going to se a 6, the LS2, and possably the LS7. If GM had money to waste, i thik for the lowest model they should make a short weel base, stiff suspenion, sticky tires, Camaro. But with a turbo Inline 6. I think that would kill off V6 Mustang sales, and i would love a car like that.
  14. You have the worst ideas about everything.
  15. LoL <A BORDER="0" HREF=""><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/grin.gif"></A>
  16. What do you think of the new Camaro? <A BORDER="0" HREF=""><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="pitlane/emoticons/grin.gif"></A>
  17. FWD.
  18. LWD
  19. So you are telling me that you would not take a better handeling, high reving turbo inline 6. And the fact that it would be the cheapest one. dont get me wronge, i would rather have a V8. But i just think a model like that would be great for people with a budget, and the gas money.
  20. The V6 needs to make a lot of money, to finance the higher end V8 ones, you twat.
  21. Problem is a turbo 6 would cost as much as a V8 to make.
  22. Witch is will cause i think it could take sales away from the V6 stang u idiot. Witch would you rather drive, the current V6 stang, or a Camaro with a turbo 6 that would not only be faster, but handle better and look better???
  23. If the 'stang was 19,000, and the V6 Camaro 27,000, I'd take the 'Stang.

Twin-turbo V6s are really, really expensive to produce for one model. The 3.6 litre V6 already has enough power for a base model.
