I think to define the best car is almost impossible. For refinement and general quality you would have to say BMW. For a performance car you would have to say Porsche for their all round abilities with Ferrari a close second. GM is a huge company but does it build the best cars? Not even close. Compare the best Cadillac to the best Merc or BMW and it would be thrashed. Cadillac were using a relatively cheap VW Passat as a benchmark for interior quality. I think this shows how far they are behind the Germans. Ford was the best manufacturer at one stage until Henry decided to not keep developing the model T. The British used to build the best cars but they lost that mantle a long time ago. Bentley's have their place for people with more money than sense but they are outclassed by the Germans in almost every respect.
Brodeur deserves to win one though. He's a phucken awesome goalie. Let's just say that Hasek and Roy are the best 2 goalies. We could argue like this all week.
true...hehe, Roy has his cups and wins, Hasek has his Vezinas and Harts, and Brodeur has a hard time beating the two above goalies.<!-- Signature -->
Hasek and Roy are probably the 2 best goalies playing right now, in terms of achievements; however, there are probably other goalies that are much more capable of stealing a game than they are. Robert Luongo could be one of the best goalies to come around for a long time, but he plays for a bad team; he was awesome for Canada in the World Juniors a few years back. Kirk McLean still holds the best save of all time for his save in Game 7 vs. Calgary in '94 on the 2-0n-1 to keep the Canucks alive for their greates playoff run ever. Johnny Bauer has to be given credit for inventing the patented pokecheck. Best Goalie currently playing imo is either Joseph or Brodeur, but Biron or Luongo may dethrone them in the next couple years. Best Car Companies: Japanese: Toyota - They're reliable and the Tacoma is a sweet offroading truck British: Lotus - I admire their style of building ultra-light, sweet looking cars German: Porche - Only because they're dedicated to racecars, and they mastered the art of Rear Engine vehicles American: They all suck, but Vector and Cadillac have potential Korea: N/A Italian: Ferarri - Only because they're trying to bring new technology to fast cars with the F40, F50, and soon to be F60, instead of going for the highest top speed. PS. I'm another good Canadian kid from BC; we're going all the way this year.
the best car of all time i think is the lancer evo 6 it is quicker the the skyline and is cheaper to run and it is also faster and cheaper then the impreza and vw is on of the best car companies because of it build and it is cheap
haha... this have nothing to do with this forum or cars at all for that matter, but i really dont think that canadians have any business what-so-ever trying to talk or be or think they are "thugz" in any manner. its just pretty ridiculous. dont you think?
The answer for me would have to be Lamborghini because there fast, luxurious, powerful and differant. However they do cost a lot.<!-- Signature -->
Best car company? Well depends where you live and how you drive. In North America, I would have to say GM is best. Anyone take a nice long roadtrip in a Vette Z06 before? It's pure heaven. Also, they make some very good, rugged winter runnable cars =) Europe is hard to say. SO much different terrain and car companies. If I am not mistaken, SAAB is the leader in safety now. Then comes MB and Volvo. Volvo is quite a good company that combine luxo and performance for a pretty good price. MB is going way overprice now, and honestly, they're a little too big to drive in Europe. The SAAB 93 Viggen is a kick ass lil Turbocharged car. Over all, driving satisfaction would have to be BMW. I find that they are comfy and fun to drive. They're not too big..not too small, good performance and luxo. Also can be driven almost anywhere =) Porsche....pure performance. Great to drive, just not long distances because you'll go deaf from the engine =P Lotus is the ultimate Brit comp I think. Awesome driving experience. I encourage every to get a chance to drive an Elise or Esprit. It's a whole new world. Italian Cars...hmmmm..hard to choose. Lambo is nice...I love the Diablo. They seem more distinctive than Ferrari's and harder to obtain too. They perform nicely, are comfy...but damned expensive. Jap cars. Hmmmm..I dun agree that the EvoVI is the best. It's a good car, but really long, and is hindered when it comes to short, sharp cornering. It also sits higher and is prone to flip. The Subey STi is probs best for value, and it is proven to be a formidable car since it kicks ass in WRC =) NSX...very nice...needs alil more power and refined suspension, not to mention sound dampeners. Supra, ok..looks too subtle and feels like a sedan. (Camry platform) My favourite..>R34 GTR Spec V =) You probs all know why =) But if thye build this Caddy, I would so get it =) DA PUN<!-- Signature -->
the subaru was beaten my ford mitsubishi and the pug 206 this year so they didn't not really kick ass. the lancer was untoucheable until last year in the wrc 4 years in a row and of course the subaru is built badly compared to the lancer and is slower
Hehe. Gryph you DO know that JAgs are a Ford product I tell you what, i would take a ford truck over a chevy anyday. Before the Duramax came out, they were only slightly modding Gas engines for diesel, and they were POS!!! And let us not forget from about 79-89, Chevy spot welded the doors on thier trucks, so they had a tendency to fall off. Ohh yes, and about the same era, they managed to mount the gas tank in a position so that a side impact would crush it, causing an explosion ala Pinto. (ok, Humerous moment here that picks on both ford and Chevy (though chevy more). The whole exploding truck thing was becuase Chevy wanted an exploder, but didnt want ford to sue them for copyright infringement. So instead of a small car that exploded when you hit it in the rear (Pinto) they made a truck that exploded when you hit it from the side (Chevy trucks), just so Ford would not get mad and think they had duplicated them ) (end humor) SEriously though, the only Chevy i have ever liked was the Avalanche. IT is the only one that i test drove that FELT like it was going to stay together.<!-- Signature -->

as far as the best goalie: patrick roy. hes the reason the avs won the cup in 96. if the wings hadnt womped the habs in the regular season (the team on which roy played before colorado) he would have never been traded. and if roy wasnt on the avs, i guarentee that they wouldnt have won. as for the best car company: (as much of a fan of ferrari i am, especially the 355) porsche is the best. They are heads and shoulders above the rest. the best car: hands down, its the Jaguar XJ220. released 16 years ago, has numbers to compete with basically any stock machine that comes out now. 542 horse out of a v6 (although TT) is impressive, being its 16 years old. had it come out with the original v12 concept engine, it would have been even faster. that doesnt even take into play the cars looks. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! JAG XJ220!!!! best car ever!!!!

For everybody that ever has or will slam on American cars, here's a little something for you. Everybody knows (or should know) that any car company has the ability to produce some 8 liter, 1500 HP, smooth cornering monstrosity of a supercar. (Don't argue the numbers, they are arbitrary.) Car companies are COMPANIES, they make money to feed their families and live their lives. Look at America. Most of the people here are overweight, safety-paranoid, and have semi-large families. Thus the inundation of SUV's flooding our rapidly decaying roads.(Don't get me started on safety of SUV's, I know). In Italy, however; where medical bills are payed for and education the same, people can afford to spend every last cent on an Italian exotic. It is an expression of their wealth and personality. So Italian companies, Lamborghini and Ferrari, can build overpriced exotics because people buy them. If Ford made an 800HP, 2000lb, 1.1 G on the skidpad vehicle (which is possible), the sell of this car would not be lucrative which is why Ford strays from such an idea. Look at Ford and the GT-40, it was made in a fit of rage when Enzo Ferrari back out of a deal with Ford at the last second. This vehicle ended up dominating races and giving Ferrari a kick in the pants. It is alright to judge on the best car of all time (although there are too many different categories to place one car as the ultimate performer), but to judge the best car company is unfair. The economic prosperity and target audience is different from country to country. Probably why Europe seems to get the most votes. You guys were able to weed out the fat, lazy, live-with-your-mother losers that force us (Americans) to buy cars with step ladders. Sorry, I strayed from my point. Anyways, don't make fun of car companies as a whole. It's not their completely their choice what they build. If BMW was an American company, people would have gay "BMW SUX" stickers, opposed to "FORD SUX" stickers. Oh, by the way, my vote for best all around street legal car (the only kind which should be considered in a vote like this), is the Ferrari F50. Beautiful with adequate power.<!-- Signature -->
Yo steveS, im on your page exactilly. there are to manny people out there that think that because they had Tuffy put an exauhst on their sub-compact, and they have a subscription to sport compact car monthly, that they are car experts. i hate the fact that when a 16 year olds parents buy them a cheap car, they feel taht they have to hate all other competetors out there. A good mechanic can go to a junk yard and put together a car in 2 weeks that will beat any sport comp on the track. people need to start looking at cars from a mechanical POV and stop bragging about their flowmasters and tinted windows.<!-- Signature -->
Thanks for agreeing. Everyone else who feels the same way should get together and make some kind of forum for those who truly love cars for cars, not for arguing over who knows the most, or whose exhaust tip makes the most horsepower (chuckle).<!-- Signature -->
