1935 Delage D8-85 Chappron Cabriolet

Founded in 1905, Delage was a formidable force in pre-war voiturette racing. Mainly focusing on Inline-8 and V12 powerplants, the marque took many wins in events like the Coupes de L'Auto and Voiturette races at Dieppe and Boulogue. The road-going Delage examples reflected the marques racing heritage with race-bred engineering and robust chassis.

The D8 marked the top end of the Delage cars, built with little regards for expense. Individual coachworks were applid to the D8 from famous names such as Chappron, Figoni et Falaschi and Letourner. Due to the short length of the chassis, only a 2 seater D8 coachwork could be fabricated.

This particular example, chassis 40168, has a unique body crafted by Henri Chapron. The orginal design was slightly altred after delivery by the owners request. This resulted in a reshaped grill , extra chrome, and restyled headlight guards with matching bumper.
