1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Speciale
Ferrari customers comissioned a range of unique bodies on the 250GT which can only be lumped together as the 250 GT Speciale. The ones featured here used an unusual blend of various other body styles. They were built upon the short wheel base 250 chassis with 400 Superamerica type bodywork including the very rounded-off rear end.
Only 5 examples Speciales where produced with chassis 2643GT being the Ferrari 250 GTO prototype. Other examples included 3615GT & 2429GT which had competition engines producing 270 horse power. The examples seen above are 2821GT and 2613GT. These cars had the normal spec V12 which produced 240 horse power.
While these Ferraris were never raced, they combined the luxury of the Superamerica body with the best of the 250 performance. The cars with the competition engines produced power comparabe to the GTO.
