2006 Maserati MC12 Corse

Maserati has taken the wraps of its $1.7 million supercar, a new track-only version of the World Championship-winning Maserati MC12 called the Corsa and which will only be sold to valued Maserati customers who will be restricted to using their new supercar on private track days.

”This is a unique opportunity to own a car that is the reigning GT World Champion,” says Edward Butler, General Manager for Maserati in Australia and New Zealand. ”The world-beating racing car was developed from the Maserati MC12 road car and the Corsa is derived directly from the GT1 racing car exclusively for track use. It will not be homologated for road use.”

”The MC12 Corsa has been developed in response to the customer demand to own the MC12 racing car and fuelled by the growth in track days, where owners can drive their cars at high speeds in the safety of a race track without the obvious constraints of normal road use,” says Mr Butler. ”Without doubt the MC12 Corsa is the ultimate track day car!”

The 564 kW MC12 Corsa has been developed from the MC12 GT1 which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup. It will be used exclusively on track during private test sessions and exhibition activities organised by Maserati. It will not be homologated for road use or for any racing activity.

The Maserati MC12 Corsa, which is living testimony of Maserati’s ability to individually tailor make unique cars with the highest technological content, will be on sale at the price of a million Euros plus tax in September. Available in the official Maserati Blue Victory color, it may also be personalized upon request with several optional items

Total production of the Maserati MC12 Corsa will not exceed 12 units worldwide.

Auction Sales History

2008 Maserati MC12 Corsa – sold for €770,000 The Maserati MC12 Corsa presented here is the most desirable of all. It is the last of the 12 examples built, finished in 2008, and is entirely new, never having left the Maserati factory in Modena, as the current and only owner never took delivery. As such it has only factory mileage on its odometer. It is further identified by its “Blue Victory” exterior finish with a red suede interior and seats – the only one in the world with this exquis

ite and very Maserati-appropriate colour combination. Every element, both cosmetically and mechanically, is in spectacular, brand new condition. In fact, until recently, the car even retained its pre-delivery protective plastic covering, which was only removed for the purpose of presentation prior to the sale. MC12 Corsa #12 is also equipped with arguably the most desirable factory specification, including an optional second seat, adjustable suspension and a quieter 92 db exhaust although, admittedly, “quiet” is a relative term!

While the MC12 Corsa is related to the Ferrari FXX in both spirit and execution, it differs from its Ferrari sibling in several major respects, not the least of which is the additional torque produced by the engine. Moreover, the MC12 benefits from a race-winning pedigree and added rarity, as only 12 MC12s were produced compared to the 29 FXXs. Although the Corsa was never intended for street use, one example, serial number 01, was successfully modified, road registered in Germany and recently changed hands for a world record price. Spectacularly liveried in Victory Blue with a stunning red interior, Maserati MC12 Corsa #12 is quite simply one of a kind – rare, ultra exclusive and breathtakingly fast. It is the ultimate private racing car for the true gentleman driver and a supercar of unparalleled collectibility for the discerning enthusiast.
